National visas for residents in Indonesia, in the Philippines and Brunei Darussalam

National visas for residents in Indonesia, in the Philippines and Brunei Darussalam must be submitted through the VFS offices in Jakarta and Bali. However, as they do not require the collection of biometric data, no appointment is necessary, and they can be submitted in person at VFS's offices. Criminal Record Certificates (and Diplomas/Certificates of Qualifications, if required) must be previously apostilled (in the case of Indonesia and of the Philippines) or authenticated (in the case of Brunei Darussalam). Schengen visas for residents of the Philippines

Schengen visa processing for residents in the Philippines is delegated on the Embassy of Greece in Manila, which is responsible for the whole process, including the decision on the applications.

Family members of EU citizens (including, naturally, Portuguese citizens) may sumit their applications directly at the Embassy of Greece, thorugh the following coordinates:

FAMILY MEMBERS OF PORTUGUESE CITIZENS, EU/EEE/SWITZERLAND/SCHENGEN AREA

Member States should facilitate nationals of third countries family members of EU citizens encompassed in the directive visa application.

Who requires a visa

Nuclear family members are automatically entitled to enter and reside in the country, regardless of their nationality. 

Types of visa

Nationals of third countries who are family members of EU citizens are only required to hold an entry visa, in compliance with Regulation (CE) n.º 539/2001.

Definition of family members

According to the n.º 2 of article 2 of the Directive (EC) 38/2004 are considered as nuclear family members:

  • The spouse; 
  • The partner with whom the Union citizen has contracted a registered partnership, on the basis of the legislation of a Member State, if the legislation of the host Member State treats registered partnerships as equivalent to marriage and in accordance with the conditions laid down in the relevant legislation of the host Member State;
  • The direct descendants who are under the age of 21 or are dependants and those of the spouse or partner as defined above; or,
  • The dependent direct relatives in the ascending line and those of the spouse or partner as defined above.

 

If you want to establish residence in Portugal, you should, in a period of 30 days after three months in Portuguese territory, request a Residence Card for a family member of an EU citizen who does not have Euroepan nationality.
